The Government of China and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have teamed up to develop technical guidelines that will serve as a basis for the development of international standards for small hydropower development. The guidelines will address the current limitations in regulations applied to the planning, design, installation, commissioning, operation and management of small-scale hydro plants, and will be used to train manufacturers, engineers and decisionmakers, especially in developing countries, according to an announcement by UNIDO in late June.
