The Indian state-owned hydropower producer Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) has been awarded the rights to develop the 66 MW Dhaulasidh hydro project on a standalone basis, rather than through a special purpose vehicle, by the State Government of Himachal Pradesh. The project, which will be on the river Beas, in the Hamirpur district, is to be developed on a build, own, operate, maintain (BOOM) basis, the State Government announced recently. The run-of-river project is designed to have limited live storage which is to be utilized for peaking power during the dry season. It is expected to generate average annual output of 247 GWh.
