The investment costs of the Tshilomba plant, including the mini-distribution network, are estimated at € 19 million. According to the mixed financing model, the levelized cost of electricity is about € 0.2/kWh. The share of public financing of the project by KfW is almost one third of the total investment cost to be in line with the surveyed ability to pay of the consumers living in the load centre. This represents a significant improvement in comparison with the status quo, in which the generation costs are typically in the range of € 0.40 to 0.50/kWh.
