PowerChina has been contracted by Zimbabwe's Ministry of Water Resources to build the Kunzvi dam and associated water supply infrastructure, near Harare, aimed at easing water shortages in the capital and its satellite towns. An Engineering, Procurement and Construction contract to this effect was signed in late July, the Chinese state engineering group announced recently. The dam, which is to be built as part of the Harare Water Supply Project Phase I, at the confluence of the rivers Nora and Nyaguwe in Goromonzi district, 55 km northeast of Harare, will create a reservoir with a storage capacity of 158.4 × 10~6m~3.
