Ellomay Capital has secured a conditional licence from Israel's Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Resources for the construction of a pumped-storage plant, with a planned installed capacity of 340 MW, at Manara Cliff in the north of the country. The conditional licence, which is valid for a period of 72 months, includes several conditions precedent to the entitlement of an electricity production licence, it was announced on 31 August. The conditions include financial closure, the provision of guarantees and the construction of the pumped-storage plant. "Obtaining the conditional licence marks a substantial milestone in the continued development of the Manara Cliff project, which is expected to be highly complex and is currently in its early stages," Ellomay CEO and Board Member Ran Fridrich said. The company indirectly owns 75 per cent of project developer, Ellomay Pumped Storage. The plant is to be located near the Lebanese border at Manara Cliff, south of Kiryat Shmona. It is one of three pumped-storage projects under development in Israel.
