The European Investment Bank (EIB) has agreed to provide €60 million in financing for the modernization of four hydro plants in Guinea, as part of a €161 million investment programme to upgrade the country's energy infrastructure. The programme will include the redevelopment of the Grand Chutes, Donkea, Baneah and Garafiri plants, which will increase generation capacity from 75 to 122 MW, the EIB announced on 10 December. Two substations at Sonfonia and Kipe, and electricity distribution in Conakry will also be upgraded and expanded.
