Chilean hydropower producer Elec-trica Pilmaiquen announced in early December that it had obtained a permit for the construction of hydroelectric plants as part of the 53 MW Los Lagos project. The plant will be built on the border between the Los Lagos and Los Rios regions to produce some 310 GWh/year. The company obtained the environmental licence in June 2009, and the latest permit was issued by Chile's water management directorate DGA.
