The Spanish and Chinese National Committees of ICOLD, in collaboration with the Dadu River Hydropower Development Co, Chengdu Engineering Corporation Ltd, Sinohydro, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Development, and ICOLD, recently organized the 7th International Symposium on RCC Dams which took place in Chengdu, China. This follows previous events in Beijing, Santander, Chengdu, Madrid, Guiyang, and Zaragoza. Thus, over 25 years, China and Spain, two pioneering and leading countries for RCC, have joined efforts and alternately taken the responsibility for bringing together RCC experts, to discuss advances in this type of dam. This report presents the background to the meetings, experience with RCC dam development in China and Spain, and highlights from the recent Symposium in Chengdu.
