Alstom has signed a contract with Lansi-Suomen Voima Oy, owner of the 72 MW Harjavalta hydro power-plant, to retrofit and upgrade two generators and provide one new unit, for a total of more than €10 million. The works will be executed between 2016 and 2017 as part of a larger modernization project, which aims to increase the capacity to 110 MW. Under the scope of the contract, Alstom will refurbish and upgrade two generators, originally manufactured in 1939 and 1940. The group will supply a new complete stator, excitation system and cooling system and will also refurbish the existing rotor, generator shaft and new or refurbished bearings. After the refurbishment, the generators will be upgraded to a modern design with increased output of the generators from 2 × 46 MVA to 2 × 53 MVA. In addition, the company will supply a new 25 MVA generator to be manufactured in Bilbao, Spain.
