Voith has received orders to supply the complete electro-mechanical equipment for three units at the Rasuwaghadi hydro station in Nepal, and has also won a contract to replace six turbine runners at the Salal plant in India. The two contracts are worth more than €23 million. The work will be carried out at Voith Hydro's factory in India. For Rasuwaghadi, Voith will supply a complete water-to-wire system, including three 37 MW vertical Francis turbines, the generators, automation systems and balance-of-plant equipment. The project is in the north of the country, about 150 km from Kathmandu, and is being developed by the Rasuwaghadi Hydro-power Company, a subsidiary of the Nepal Electricity Authority. For Salal, on the Chenab river in northern India, Voith will supply six new runners, replacing those installed between 1987 and 1995 which have become damaged by silt erosion. The new runners will be manufactured at Voith's workshop in Vadodara.
