A partnership between APG Asset Management and financial manager Aquila Capital has been set up to invest in European hydropower, possibly in Turkey. APG plans to contribute €250 million of its own funds, and the partners aim to double that amount through loans, to achieve an investment fund with a total value of €500 million. The partners said that the high efficiency of hydropower (up to 95 per cent) was more attractive and impressive to them than other types of powerplant where the resource is either wind (about 50 per cent efficient) or solar (about 20 per cent).
