摘要

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved in late August a new operating licence for the 81 MW Toledo Bend hydropower plant, and also authorized the construction of a new 1.3 MW generating unit at the site to exploit the minimum flows. The powerplant, on the Sabine river on the Texas-Louisiana border, is jointly owned by the Sabine River Authority of Texas (SRA-TX) and the Sabine River Authority, State of Louisiana (SRA-LA). The storage scheme is a multipurpose development, designed to provide power and water supply. The Toledo Bend reservoir covers 185 000 acres (749 km~2). The original licence was issued in October 1963 and expired at the end of September 2013.
