Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the electro-mechanical equipment for the 444 MW Vishnugad Pipalkoti run-of-river project on the Alak-nanda river, in the northeastern Indian state of Uttarakhand, The order, from THDCIL (formerly known as Tehri Hydro Development Corporation), includes four 111 MW units, with vertical Francis turbines and generators. Under the terms of the contract, announced on 28 October, BHEL will execute the contract in 48 months. The company's Bhopal unit is to supply the turbines and generators, while the transformers and control and monitoring system will be supplied by the Jhansi unit and Electronics Division in Bangalore. The northern region power sector division will carry out the installation and commissioning of equipment.
