CARDER (Corporacion Autonoma Regional de Risaralda, the Autonomous Regional Corporation of Risaralda) recently awarded an environmental licence to Risaralda Generacion de Energia S AS-ESP for the construction and operation of a hydroelectric plant at Morro Azul, Colombia. The cost is estimated at US$ 43 million. Construction of the project is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year and will be completed and operational by 2014. The director of CARDER said that the environmental licence had been granted by the regional agency.
