A series of sales and acquisitions have taken place in the Canadian small hydro sector, with Innergex Renewable Energy taking one plant from Capital Power Corp and a second on a conditional basis, and separately, Domtar Corp has sold three stations and a stake in a dam to Energy Ottawa. Canadian firm Capital Power has agreed to sell the 7.2 MW Brown Lake plant to compatriot Innergex, it announced in mid-June. Its 33 MW Miller Creek station may also go to Innergex, should BC Hydro not acquire the plant by exercising its right of first refusal during a 30-day period. The move takes Capital Power out of the hydro sector as part of its new strategy to focus on thermal and other renewables.
