An inauguration ceremony took place in late August, attended by the Angolan President, to mark the return to operation of the Gove hydro plant, in the central province of Huambo. Brazilian engineering and construction group Odebrecht announced in July that the plant's three 20 MW units had resumed electricity production that month. Construction of the 60 MW plant and dam, also known as Ngove, began in 1969, but was halted in 1975 as a result of the country's civil war.
