Montenegro's Ministry of Energy has awarded a series of concessions to two local consortia for the construction of eight small hydro plants, with a combined installed capacity of 20.7 MW. Montenegro's Economy Minister, Branko Vujovic, signed 30-year concession agreements with Elektro-tehna-Radius consortium in September, for the construction of three small stations. The consortium, consisting of Elektrotehna and Radius, was awarded a concession for two small plants totalling 2.4 MW and an estimated annual production of 9 GWh, on the Murinska river and a concession for an 8.3 MW plant on the Trepacka river, with a projected generation of 33 GWh/year. The annual concession fee amounts to 4 per cent of the plants' output. The three plants will cost an estimated €13.3 million to build.
