Meanwhile, Cavico has achieved a number of advances at other hydro schemes in the country, with milestones particularly in underground works. Final tunnel breakthrough has been achieved at the 170 MW A Luoi project and the last stages of the concrete lining works are underway. The company said the headrace is considered to be the longest in the country. A Luoi is being built by Central Hydropower Joint Stock Co on the A Sap River, in Thua Thien Hue province, and the plant is expected to generate about 686 GWh/year when complete. At Song Giang 2, Cavico recently achieved tunnel breakthroughs in consecutive months on two sub-tunnels linked to the headrace, and also completed excavation of the 42.1 m-high surge shaft.
