The Swiss utility Alpiq announced in late March that Forces Motrices de la Gougra, which is 54 per cent owned by Alpiq, has gained planning permission to increase capacity of the Navizence hydropower plant fromrn50 MW to 70 MW. Permission was granted on 10 March to refurbish the facility, and to increase total capacity by 20 MW. Alpiq said renovation work, which started at the end of March, was likely to be completedrnby late 2013. Plant outages are to be limited to a few months throughout the period of work. The total cost of renovation would be around CHF 75 million (about €53 million).
