Two Pelamis wave power machines (see H&D, Issue 3, 2006) are about to be tested off the Scottish coast by ScottishPower Renewables and E.ON, who have joined forces for the enterprise. The first of the devices currently being tested was launched by E.ON in May at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney. The second machine, which will be built for ScottishPower Renewables, will be installed alongside the E.ON device next year (2011). The two companies will use the information gathered from the trials to look at larger, more commercial schemes.
