Brazil's Empresa de Pesquisa Ener- getica, part of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, announced in October that ten major hydro projects with a combined capacity of 3676 MW have been registered for the country's second hydro auction, scheduled to take place on 17 December. The Federal Government will seek bids for the building, commissioning and operation of the projects on a BOT basis.
