In early June, contracts were awarded for the supply of equipment for the Kuokkastenkoski hydro plant inrnFinland to Vaasa Engineering Oy and Mavel a.s. The project is 120 km north of Kuopio.rnThe electrical equipment will be supplied by Vaasa, and Mavel will provide two KVK/D 1450K5 double regulated vertical Kaplan turbines. The runner diameters will be 1450 mm. The company will also supply generators, draft tubes, the hydraulic system, and the lubrication and cooling system.rnThe plant is owned by Pohjois-Karjalan Sahko Oy.rnThe project has a net head of 10 mrnand a flow of 20 m~3/s. Each turbine unit will provide 880 kW of installed capacity for a total plant capacity of 1.76 MW. The contract was signed in February 2009, and commissioning is planned for December 2010.
