Studies of the Susitna river basin in Alaska have shown its potential hydropower projects to be more expensive, though larger, than others, such as Chakachamna and Glacier Fork, but Black & Veatch (B&V) has recommended in a report to the State's energy authority that more detailed engineering and permitting work should be done on all three from next year.rnThe consultant's recommendations are part of the Regional Integrated Resource Plan for the Railbelt area just delivered to Alaska Energy Authority. The Railbelt area covers six regulated public utilities, with a combined peak load of 870 MW.
