In April we received the sad news from Germany that an unforgettable world-famous scientist, who had an extraordinary mind and a significant reputation in water management and hydraulic engineering both in Hungary and abroad, had left us. Scientists and engineers all over the world mourn this professor, who was blessed with a rare talent. His former students, thousands now in high positions in all five Continents of the world, have to come to terms with the fact that their professor, who enhanced their destiny and career, is no longer with us. As one of the former students of our Professor and one who has known him well, I should like to recall some of the milestones of his life.
