摘要

Experience at some existing hydro plants demonstrates that vibrations caused by Karman vortex shedding may cause fatigue cracking in the stayvanes of large turbines. This paper describes the approach of Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to understand fully the fluid dynamics affecting the stayvanes in one of their northern powerplants, and the use of a finite element analysis (FEM) of the vane to understand the stresses, deflections and natural frequencies involved.
