During the IHA meetings in Croatia, Prof Dogan Altinbilek was warmly welcomed by the Board, Council and Members of IHA as the Association's new President, having been unanimously elected by the membership. He had served on the IHA Board since 2001, and had been co-opted as Vice President in 2002. The election results were officially announced during the IHA General Assembly on 4 November, and he took office at the end of the week of meetings in Croatia. Prof Altinbilek convened a meeting of the IHA Board and Council, to discuss IHA activities in the coming years, and during these meetings, and at his inaugural speech to the closing plenary session of Hydro 2003 in Dubrovnik (of which IHA was one of the co-hosts), he set out some of his specific ideas and priorities for the Association.
