摘要

Asphalt concrete for the sealing of hydraulic structures is flexible and ductile to avoid dilation, cracking and increased permeability caused by differential displacements and shear distortions in the field. The stress-strain-strength behaviour of asphalt concrete clearly depends on the mix proportions and the material properties of the mix components. However, the behaviour also greatly depends on the method of compaction used to achieve the prescribed density (air porosity). This is studied here by comparing the results of triaxial tests on laboratory specimens compacted by four different laboratory methods to the same initial density, and on field specimens drilled out of an asphalt concrete dam core compacted by a vibratory roller.
