First of all, on behalf of all my team at the Editorial Office of the International Journal of Image and Data Fusion (IJIDF), I would like to wish all our subscribers, readers, authors and reviewers all the best for a successful 2011! With the excellent support of our publisher, Taylor & Francis, all four issues of our inaugural Volume 1 were published on time, and were of a high quality. Volume 1 contained 22 scientific papers, including four detailed review papers, two letter-type papers, and 16 original research papers. These papers covered many current research themes in image and data fusion, such as current status and future directions of image fusion, SAR data fusion, multi-sensor data fusion, hyper spectral related fusion, as well as several important application areas such as land cover change detection.
