摘要

The ageing response of Al-8wt%Mg alloys was studied. The solutionized samples were aged at 200℃ temperature and the hardness measurements were taken. The maximum Vickers hardness was found in the sample aged for 16 hours. This was due to the formation of β~1 (the intermediate phase) particles in a big enough quantity. The susceptibility to intergranular corrosion of the aged samples was determined by measuring the mass loss. The nitric acid mass loss test (NAMLT) according to ASTM G 67 indicated that Al-8wt%Mg alloy samples aged at 200℃ were more susceptible to IGC and the susceptibility has been increased with increased time of ageing. This was due to the precipitation of anodic β~1 phase.
