It is no secret to most IT managers that information growth is out of control and is becoming an exponential problem. Last year's Digital Universe study by IDC (A Digital Universe Decade - Are You Ready? IDC, April 26, 2010) indicated that by 2020, the amount of digital information produced would be 44 times larger than it was in 2009. Although this figure may seem overwhelming, by developing an information-centric approach to IT, companies can - according to Symantec -implement concrete solutions to manage their information growth and reduce their storage costs.
