Should we protect?rnProtectionism has been a contentious issues over the last several months - should we or should we not ask many nations. Well, in productivity terms protectionism is almost always bad ... and therefore it is in economic terms. Another example came recently from Australia which bans the import of overseas books. The Productivity commission has recently pointed out that, as a result, Australians pay far more for books than those living elsewhere.
