Developing a model of key managerial competencies using meta-synthesis approach

摘要

This study tended to develop a model for key managerial competencies by meta-synthesis. Using meta-synthesis, 92 studies in the field of managerial competencies were reviewed; using content analysis, dimensions and relevant codes were extracted. Importance and priority of codes were determined using Shannon entropy. According to findings, the competencies identified in this model were categorised in three dimensions: individual (attitude and behaviour), social (social consciousness and social skills), and professional (management, planning and knowledge). Findings also showed that effective communication, leadership, team building and teamwork, training and development of others, decision-making and problem-solving skills, adaptability and flexibility, confidence and creativity had the highest coefficients of importance; that is, they have been more closely studied and more repeatable than other codes in the field of managerial competencies. Hence, it is very important to consider these codes in implementing managerial competency model. Finally, model of key managerial competencies was developed through the research steps.
