In this article, a compact bandpass filter (BPF) with dual-wideband is developedusing single loop complementary split-ring resonators (CSRRs) loadedsubstrate integrated waveguide (SIW). The dual-wideband response is achievedby etching the CSRRs with a bandstop characteristics on a high-pass SIW filterstructure. The characteristics of CSRR and double CSRRs arrays are studied.With the specification of BPF, the parameters of CSRRs sizes, opening directionsand spacing between CSRRs can be obtained, then a dual-band BPF isrealized using four CSRRs array with different opening directions etched onthe top metal layer. Since the CSRRs have the sub-wavelength characteristics,the electrical size of the filter is compact and the size of the filter does notincrease. Moreover, the bandwidth of filter can be controlled by adjusting thedimensions of CSRRs and the distances between CSRRs array. As validation, afilter prototype is designed, fabricated, and measured, and the experimentalresults verify the feasibility of the design.
