摘要

In this article, two coupled patch elements in central symmetry are used toproduce a pair of even/odd characteristic modes with single-/dual-beams. It isfound that the pointing direction of dual-beam could be adjusted in both horizontaland vertical planes with unchanged polarization. Common-fed configurationis adopted to effectively excite the odd mode and fully suppress the evenmode. Modal impedance analysis is performed for the proposed antenna todetermine the two feeding positions. A prototype antenna with its dual-beamrotated by 45° in horizontal plane and inclined by 40° in vertical plane is fabricatedand measured. The antenna possesses a 10-dB impedance bandwidth of0.73% and a radiation gain of 7.0 dBi.
