Although the rationale for change in India and China is dramatically different the same basic approach, namely joint ventures with local engineering companies or local subsidiaries offering state-of-the-art solutions to local problems, would seem the best way to enter both markets.rnIf there is a wrong way it would seem to be, as Australia has tried to do in China, to offer power plant rehabilitation geared to imports of Australian coal. Both markets have an over-abundance of often low-rank and hence cheap fuel that they obviously want to use. The problem is how to handle it in a technically efficient, environmentally sound way.
