In January of this year Rotork Controls secured a contract to replace 192 electric valve actuators in one of the UK's newest power generation stations in Connah's Quay, Deeside. The new actuators were fitted into the upgraded cooling towers at the 1,420MW PowerGen station.rnThe plant entered commercial operation in 1996 using the latest combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) technology to generate electricity cleanly and efficiently, using gas extracted from Liverpool Bay nearby. The original actuator contract had been awarded to one of Rotork's competitors - Mike Dale, services and site projects manager at Rotork said: "Our competitor kept dropping its price and it was eventually awarded the contract over us."
