Increased demand for power and deregulation in the UK power market have been two major factors in driving change in the power generation industry. The competitive nature of todayis market has put pressure on power producers to become more efficient and profitable and has given rise to a new breed of organisation commonly referred to as Independent Power Producers (IPPs). Such companies have embraced the current economic climate and have implemented strategies to evaluate business process changes and to identify technological advances that will directly increase the profitability and competitiveness of their business.
