GERMAN Rail (DB) has concluded the sale of the Arriva Germany Group to a consortium led by Italian State Railways (FS) in partnership with Cube Infrastructure Fund, France, following approval of the deal by the European Commission on February 16. Arriva became DB's largest ever acquisition when the €1.9 billion takeover of the British bus and train operator was agreed last year. However, the EC ruled last August that DB would have to sell Arriva's German rail and bus businesses to a third party in order to maintain competition in these markets.
