Polish infrastructure manager PKP PLK has selected the route for the new high-speed line that will link Warsaw via Lodz to Wroclaw and Poznan from the results of a study conducted by a consortium of Idiom, Spain and Biuro Project Communication. The 469km Y-shaped line is estimated to cost at least Zlotys 20bn ($US 6.19bn) to construct, with the Polish government aiming to begin work in 2014 and complete the project by 2020. A tender will be issued in the coming months to select a consultant to assist with securing financial support for the project, with a concession system or a public-private partnership structure favoured.
