The General Assembly of the International Union of Railways (UIC) elected a new management team on March 31 to bring to an end an internal crisis which resulted in the appointment of an administrator, who has run the organisation for nearly a year.rnMr Yoshio Ishida, vice-chairman of JR East, has been elected as chairman, with Mr Mauro Moretti, CEO of Italian Railways (FS), as vice-chairman, and Mr Jean-PierrernLoubinoux, chairman and CEO of SNCF International, to the new position of director general. Mr Luc Aliadiere has stepped down as chief executive, and Ms Beatrice Dunogue-Gaffie has ended her term as administrator.rnThe General Assembly also adopted new statutes. Members' voting power will now correspond with their financial contribution, all UIC technical bodies will be open to all members, and there willrnbe more transparency in the UIC's finances.
