The city of St Petersburg has invited prequalification bids for the construction of the 30km Nadzemny Express (Nadex) light rail line. Nadex will connect the districts south of the city centre, running from an interchange with the metro and suburban rail services at Obukhovo to Pionerstroya Street, where the line will divide with branches running to Congress Centre and Baltic Pearl. The line will have 16 stations and will run on a dedicated alignment, around 70% of which will be elevated with the remainder at grade, but fully segregated. The line will be electrified and built to the standard Russian 1524mm gauge.
