With its extremely wide fabric range, the new L5400 air jet weaving machine will produce significantly increased productivity and economic results on an exceptionally high quality level. The Sulzer Textil L5400's weft insertion process has some fundamental innovations as regards engineering, economic resource handling and performance capability. One outstanding feature of the L5400 (Fig. 1) is its reduced air consumption with simultaneously greater precision of weft yarn control. Associated design measures, minimum volume relay jet valves, their location close to the relay jets, a reduced number of jets per group plus conical blow holes enable the compressed air system reaction and blowing times to be shortened. This reduces air consumption by up to 20%, with significant energy cost savings.
