摘要

Light fastness tests are based on comparisons with reference standards. Exposure time is determined and light fastness visually evaluated by allocating contrast stages on test specimens to graduated scales. The subjective evaluation of shades and colour contrasts can lead to differing assessments between a number of people. This is especially critical in the "fail/pass" decision area, resulting for example in the acceptance or rejection of a fabric delivery. Exposure time is more accurately determined by specifying defined irradiation(dose value)with the use of measuring and control technology of the irradiation function of modern rapid weathering units. The use of colorimetry with special software programmes for calculating colur fastness scores according to ISO 105 A05 results in greater reliability in evaluating light fastness.
