To date, the classic ring spinning process has delivered the "perfect" yarn structure, which has been the standard for all new process developments, and attempts have been made in both air jet and rotor spinning to produce structures similar to those of ring yarns. The development of compact spinning has set new standards in yarn structure. The hither to "perfect" ring yarn has been overtaken by the "ideal" structure of compact yarns, and is now suddenly second class as regards yarn structure.
