The 2nd conference of the Asian Chemical Fiber Industries Federation was held in Kyoto (J) on 4-5 November 1997. Delegations from ten countries and region gathered to discuss various key issues affecting the Asian and global synthetic fibres and textiles sector. These included the pursuit of solutions to the world-wide supply:demand imbalance, focus on the steady efforts to control the development of local demand and consumption by each of the countries concerned, and to note particularly the development of non-apparel uses such as those in industrial textiles.
