Development effort aimed at optimising results obtained in the yarn preparation process, for example in dyeing, twisting or additive application, has in the past brought about improvements predominantly in the machines, ancil-laries and chemical auxiliaries employed. Looking at the yarn conversion process in its entirety from the aspect of economic viability, then it is found that an important role is played by the winding process for producing dye packages or the feed packages for twisters, knitting machines etc.
