American Airlines (AA) has resumed its daily scheduled service from Dublin (Ireland) to Chicago (USA). The move means that the carrier now has the same capacity as in summer last year. The airline only operated four flights per week during the winter season. A Boeing B767-300 passenger aircraft, offering belly space, is deployed on the route. AA's Irish cargo GSSA, IAM, has welcomed the addition of the extra flights, despite there being overcapacities at present, due to the difficult economic situation in Ireland. However it is vital to uphold AA's market position as the second-largest airline for North Atlantic traffic. Over and above this, AA's aircraft is the first to arrive in Chicago. This enables freight shipments to be distributed to many parts of the USA the same day, explained IAM managing director Ian McCool.
