The West African state has outlined its determination to improve its multimodal transport infrastructure - not least in the light of the precarious sanitary situation, which has had devastating effects on the Ghanaian economy. President Nana Akufo-Addo, confirmed in office last December, underlined these facts in his speech on the state of the nation on 9 March. The country has succeeded in enticing global vehicle manufacturers to set up plants in the country. The players include VW, Sinotruck and Ghana's own Kantanka brand. Nissan too hat started assembling units in the country. Akufo-Addo also said that road construction will be made a top priority. He called 2021 the "second year of the roads."
