It was the mid-1990S and the beginning of the Internet craze, more or less. Netscape was awash in publicity for having created a mainstream browser that could connect the people of the world with one another via this new channel called the Internet. Silicon Valley was buzzing with the kind of energy that comes once or twice a century, as major technology companies and startups were beginning the process of reinventing communications altogether. The Internet, and the PC, would change everything. Most people weren't thinking about anything else but creating products and services that could get PCs to communicate with each other and the Internet.
