The growth mechanism for deoxidation products of MgO, ZrO_2, Al_2O_3, CaO-Al_2O_3 and MnO-SiO_2 in an Fe-10mass percent Ni alloy has been studied under the condition of no fluid flow by considering the effects of dissolved oxygen and size distribution on Ostwald ripening. The coarsening rate of particles is largely dependent on the dissolved oxygen content. The spread of particle size distribution decreases in the order of Al_2O_3>ZrO_2>MgO>CaO-Al_2O_3>MnO/SiO_2 particles and that of solid Al_2O_3, ZrO_2 and MgO particles becomes narrower with holding time. The coarsening rate is also affected by the spread of size distribution curve and this is the reason that the coarsening rate of Al_2O_3 particles is larger than that predicted from dissolved oxygen content.
